MOOSE JAW-SWIFT CURRENT AREA HAMMERED BY JOB LOSSES WHILE SASK. PARTY SITS ON ITS HANDS

Region Actually Has Fewer Jobs Now Than When Scott Moe Became Premier
MOOSE JAW – Jobs figures released late last week make it clear that, after 18 years, the Sask. Party has failed to support working people in the Moose Jaw-Swift Current area.
Overall, Saskatchewan saw full-time jobs decrease by 1,400 month-over-month, and the figures were particularly jarring for the Moose Jaw-Swift current region, which saw 500 jobs lost alone.
‘’There is so much potential in Saskatchewan, but this government isn’t taking advantage of it,’’ said Aleana Young, Saskatchewan NDP Jobs & Economy Shadow Minister. ‘’Moose Jaw can be an economic hub for agriculture, for resource development and so much more; however, the people of this area have been failed by a Sask. Party government that is long past its best-before date.
The Moose Jaw-Swift Current region is down 1,500 jobs year-over-year and actually has fewer jobs now than it did when Scott Moe became Premier back in 2018.
‘’If Scott Moe was going to do something to create jobs in Moose Jaw, in Swift Current and in the broader region he would have done it by now,’’ Young said. ‘’We see no effort to build gamechanging infrastructure, no push to develop new resources and nothing to support producers and other industries being hammered by tariffs from Trump’s America, China and India.’’
In the weeks ahead, Young will release the initial findings of a report on Saskatchewan’s energy future and the proceed with broad consultations with industry, workers and everyday people on how to build a bright future for Saskatchewan’s economy.
