MOE’S OWN POLLSTER FINDS 84 PER CENT OF SASKATCHEWAN PEOPLE FEELING PAIN AT GAS PUMP

Carla Beck Pushes Eight-Point Plan To Save Saskatchewan People Money
REGINA — Scott Moe’s own pollster has found the sky-high price of gas is hammering household budgets right across the province — still, the Premier refuses to act and suspend his gas tax.

Prices for fuel on Tuesday were hovering at nearly $1.86 per litre and drivers have sent pictures to Carla Beck’s team of prices over $1.90 at certain stations. A new poll released last week by Angus Reid, the primary pollster for Moe and the Sask. Party, found 84 per cent of people surveyed said the price of gas had negatively affected their household finances. Saskatchewan tied with Alberta for the province with the most people feeling pain at the pumps.

“It’s clear Scott Moe isn’t listening to the people of Saskatchewan who rely on their vehicles to get to work, pick up their kids, go to the store and so much more,” said Beck. “What will it take for this premier to act?

“We know families have been struggling financially for so long — Saskatchewan people report higher financial anxiety than anywhere else in Canada — and, still, Scott Moe isn’t providing relief and he’s actively making life more expensive.”

About two-thirds of Saskatchewan people surveyed by Angus Reid said they’d made changes such as driving less or cutting spending in other areas to be able to afford gas.

Last week, Beck’s team was in Moose Jaw and rolled out an eight-point plan that could be implemented immediately to support struggling people. It included:

· Immediately suspend the Scott Moe gas tax
· Cut the $25-million Sask. Party tax on groceries
· Cut the $20-million Sask. Party tax on kids’ clothing
· Reverse the $136-million SaskPower rate hike
· Stop plans to impose a rate hike on car insurance
· Pass The Rent Control Act, introduced by MLA April ChiefCalf
· Pass legislation introduced by MLA Brittney Senger to crackdown on AI-driven price gouging on essential goods
· Pass Beck’s legislation to enhance grocery store competition to lower costs

“There are bills before this legislature today that could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” Beck said. “Our team stands ready to make affordability a priority — we wish Scott Moe would do the same.”
