MOE’S COMMUNITY SAFETY MINISTER SHOULD EXPLAIN TO HIS CONSTITUENTS WHY THREE TIMES AS MUCH MONEY IS GOING TO SASK. PARTY DEBT THAN TO POLICE

Bad News Budget Fails To Address Severe Crime In Saskatchewan
WEYBURN – When he goes before his own constituents at the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce Friday morning, Community Safety Minister Mike Weger should explain why three times as much money in this week’s bad news budget is being spent on servicing the interest on Scott Moe’s debt than on desperately needed police officers.

Weger is due to appear at the Chamber early Friday. The severe crime rate in Saskatchewan is twice the national average.

“Scott Moe’s bad news budget is not going to make Saskatchewan communities safer — and that’s bad for business,” said Nicole Sarauer, Justice Shadow Minister. “We know that people are looking for real action to fight crime and tackle the root causes of crime.

“We hear every day from people who don’t feel safe walking alone in their communities or leaving their doors unlocked like they used to.

“That’s where we’re at after 20 years of the Sask. Party.”

Wednesday’s bad news budget will see a whopping $1.2 billion spent just to service the interest on Scott Moe’s $43-billion-dollar debt — it was less than half that when he became Premier eight years ago.

“This is a clear example of how Saskatchewan people are paying for Scott Moe’s fiscal disaster,” Sarauer said. “Funding that could be put towards making communities safer is instead being used to cover interest payments to bankers on Bay Street and Wall Street.

“Clearly, it’s time for change.”
