About the Role
The Office of MLA Betty Nippi-Albright is seeking a highly capable, self-motivated Constituency Assistant to support a fast-paced constituency office and a sensitive critic portfolio. This position requires exceptional judgment, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to coordinate and manage multiple priorities with precision. The work involves urgent constituent needs, rapid-response communications, and handling confidential information with the highest level of discretion. The ideal candidate is dependable, reliable, takes initiative, follows direction well, and consistently delivers high-quality work without needing close supervision. They must be able to respond quickly to MLA requests and manage the office with professionalism and consistency.
The successful applicant will be committed to working closely with the MLA, supporting her priorities, and contributing to the visibility and effectiveness of her work in the Legislature and the community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day office operations, workflow, scheduling, and organization.
- Create and manage social media content under tight timelines.
- Draft clear, accurate written materials for constituents, stakeholders, and community partners.
- Coordinate outreach activities, community projects, and office events.
- Organize canvassing activities to keep constituents informed about the MLA’s work and to strengthen ongoing relationships in Saskatoon Centre.
- Mobilize volunteers and coordinate community engagement activities. • Manage constituent casework, including gathering information, liaising with ministries, and preparing responses.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to the MLA’s work and the functioning of the constituency office.
- Oversee office finances, including ordering supplies, processing payments, and tracking the budget.
- Conduct research to support the MLA’s critic responsibilities and community advocacy.
- Attend meetings and community events with or on behalf of the MLA, including taking notes and completing follow-up tasks.
- Travel with the MLA as required within the province. • Work independently while also taking direction and collaborating effectively with the MLA.
Qualifications
- Political experience and knowledge is required, an undergraduate degree in political science or a humanities discipline is an asset.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience or comfort with canvassing, volunteer mobilization, and event coordination.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work respectfully with the public, including individuals in crisis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks without repeated reminders.
- Strong research and information-synthesis skills.
- Comfort with social media content creation and digital tools.
- Familiarity with civic, provincial, and federal government structures.
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan NDP and its values.
- Understanding of MLA roles, critic duties, and Legislative Assembly procedures.
- Awareness of issues affecting residents of Saskatoon Centre.
Additional Requirements:
- Member in good standing with the Saskatchewan NDP.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are assets.
- Willingness and ability to travel with the MLA as required.
