CARLA BECK’S TEAM DEMANDS SCOTT MOE’S HEALTH AUTHORITY BOARD DO ITS JOB AS SYSTEM COLLAPSES

Sask. Party Appointees Gathered Thursday For Just 60 Minutes While Healthcare System Crumbles, A Previous Meeting Lasted Just Four Minutes
REGINA – Carla Beck’s team is demanding the Scott Moe-appointed members of the Saskatchewan Health Authority board step up and do their jobs, stand up to Scott Moe or step aside as healthcare in the province collapses.

On Thursday, the board met for just an hour and won’t gather again until May, according to publicly available documents. A glance at the agenda for Thursday’s meeting offers no indication of solutions or initiatives to recruit and retain doctors, keep rural emergency rooms open, get patients out of the hallways in major city hospitals — or to address the countless other issues plaguing healthcare.

“When most people don’t do their jobs, they generally don’t keep them for very long,” said Keith Jorgenson, Saskatchewan NDP Associate Health Minister. “Scott Moe’s hacks on the Health Authority board are doing nothing more than sucking up to Scott Moe and covering for his unprecedented failures to end the crisis in Saskatchewan healthcare.”

Online minutes posted on the Health Authority’s website show the board met six times in 2025 with the longest meeting lasting one hour, 13 minutes. The shortest board meeting on June 25 lasted just four minutes. The minutes of the December meeting have not yet been released publicly.

Jorgenson noted the senior employee ranks of the Health Authority’s organizational chart are also full of Scott Moe campaign insiders and donors. His former press secretary and leadership campaign staffer Jim Billington, for example, earns $257,640 annually in his role as Vice President of Community Engagement and Communications.

Billington’s job is to spin Sask. Party lies about the state of healthcare and gaslight workers raising concerns.

The board’s lack of action comes as Saskatchewan is losing doctors, up to 15 rural emergency rooms close each day with little or no warning, and patients are spending multiple days lying in agony in the hallway of major hospitals.

“I’m sure there are good people on the health authority board who aren’t hacks and genuinely signed on to support public healthcare,” Jorgenson said. “My message to them is this — people are counting on you. Let’s come together, let’s take a stand against Scott Moe’s lies and let’s deliver big, bold change in healthcare.”
