BECK’S TEAM SLAMS MOE’S POWER PLAN IN PRINCE ALBERT, PITCHES CHEAPER, HOMEGROWN ALTERNATIVE

Grid And Growth Plan Receiving Positive Feedback All Over Saskatchewan
PRINCE ALBERT — Carla Beck’s team brought her Grid and Growth Plan to Prince Albert today, where people are tired of paying more and getting less from the Sask. Party government's power plan.

Independent modelling shows the Sask. Party’s power plan could saddle Saskatchewan taxpayers with $25-$35 billion in SaskPower debt. At the same time, SaskPower says it will cost $2.6 billion just to keep aging coal plants running — nearly triple what people were told less than a year ago.

“Billions just to stand still,” Beck said. “You pay more. You get nothing new. That’s Scott Moe’s plan, and people in Prince Albert aren’t buying it.”

Beck’s team is offering a different path: add reliable natural gas, expand lower-cost renewables now, build the grid for growing communities like Prince Albert, and keep nuclear on the table for when it makes sense.

While the Sask. Party doubles down on costly coal and growing dependence on American imports, the made-in-Saskatchewan Grid and Growth Plan keeps jobs, investment and power production here at home.

“We built this plan around one idea: respect the people paying the bills,” said Sally Housser, Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources. “Grid and Growth keeps costs low and builds an electricity system in Saskatchewan that works for Saskatchewan.”

The plan would also generate more than $33 billion in economic activity by accelerating investment in generation, transmission and infrastructure. That means more jobs, business growth and stronger communities across the province.

It would reduce reliance on imported electricity while building more power here in Saskatchewan — making the system more stable, secure and self-sufficient.

The announcement in Prince Albert is part of a provincewide push to take that plan directly to communities ready for a more affordable, more reliable energy future.

“We have everything we need to succeed right here in Saskatchewan – the resources, the workers and the drive to build something better,” Beck said. “The Grid and Growth Plan brings it all together.

“Saskatchewan knows it’s time for change, and people are ready to build something better.”
