BECK'S NEW SHADOW CABINET MAKES WOMEN’S HEALTH, TECHNOLOGY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE A PRIORITY

Saskatchewan NDP Building Plan For Change, Will Hit Ground Running On Day 1 Of Forming Government
SASKATOON – Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck will make women’s health as well as technology, innovation and building an artificial intelligence strategy even greater priorities for the Saskatchewan NDP with the creation of two new shadow minister positions.

“After 18 years, Scott Moe’s Sask. Party is out of touch, out of ideas, and taking our province in the wrong direction,” said Beck. “For the first time in years, more people are leaving Saskatchewan than choosing to make it their home.

“The Sask. Party has no plan to address the biggest challenges today and build a bright future for residents of this great province. It will take a change in government to move this province forward and we are doing the work today to hit the ground running on Day 1.”

Beck has appointed Regina Northeast MLA Jacqueline Roy to take on the new role of Shadow Minister for Women’s Health.

“This government has been in power for 18 years and they simply haven’t made women’s healthcare a priority,” said Roy.

“Right now, women in this province are waiting months and months for essential procedures like mammograms. Some are even having to go to Alberta just to get their cancer care. That’s not a future I want for women and girls in Saskatchewan.”

Saskatoon Southeast MLA Brittney Senger takes the new role of Shadow Minister for Technology, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.

Senger will be tasked specifically with building an artificial intelligence strategy that the next Saskatchewan NDP Government will implement. She said Saskatchewan’s labour market and economic future will be shaped by new technologies like artificial intelligence, and that it's the government’s job to make sure their impact on workers is positive.

“Our world is changing so fast,” said Senger. “We must do everything we can to make sure new technology like AI helps people and doesn’t leave them behind. There is no evidence that the government is taking this seriously.”

Cumberland MLA Jordan McPhail will add the role of Ethics & Democracy Shadow Minister. McPhail gained ample experience prosecuting the Sask. Party on scandals related to the 2025 wildfires, including the alleged $100-million overspend on water bombers.

Saskatoon Silverspring MLA Hugh Gordon, a former police officer and financial crimes investigator, will take on the position of Associate Shadow Minister for Community Safety.

Saskatoon Stonebridge MLA Darcy Warrington takes over the Highways, Infrastructure & SGI Shadow Minister portfolio.

The role of Shadow Minister for Parks, Culture & Sport now belongs to Regina Wascana Plains MLA Brent Blakley.

Saskatoon Nutana MLA Erika Ritchie becomes the Shadow Minister for Social Services.

The Crown Investments Corporation Shadow Minister file is now held by Regina South Albert MLA Aleana Young.

The Human Rights Shadow Minister file is now held by Regina Pasqua MLA Bhajan Brar.
