NDP Leader Ryan Meili says Sask. Party boasting about population growth doesn’t tell the whole story.
“Bragging about population growth while refusing to fund increasing enrolment in schools shows, yet again, that the Sask. Party is clean out of ideas to make our province better,” Meili said. “Crowded classrooms and crowded emergency rooms are symptoms of how Scott Moe and the Sask. Party are letting people down.”
With Crown sector workers slated to strike as of Monday, NDP Leader Ryan Meili called on Premier Scott Moe to get to work on a deal.
“After months of pretending he’s not involved, it’s time for the Premier to come out from hiding and take leadership,” Meili said. “His government squeezed $209 million in dividends from our Crowns this year, and now they’re expecting the people who work for our Crowns to accept less. Scott Moe is showing us exactly what he’s about: good deals for his buddies, and bad deals for families.”
As major problems with the Sask. Party’s net metering program become apparent, the NDP is calling for a more robust program to fill the gaps.
“We have the best solar exposure and a government with new ideas could put that to good use, but the Sask. Party is out of ideas and letting people down,” Meili said. “Imagine how much a government committed to ensuring Saskatchewan is a leader in renewable energy could accomplish.”
As Crown sector workers go back into bargaining today, NDP Labour critic David Forbes released the following statement:
“This Sask. Party government has a long history of scheming to weaken the Crown corporations that the people of Saskatchewan are so proud of. Preventing our Crowns from negotiating a fair deal with their workers is just more of the same. People who rely on the services our Crowns provide are being let down by a government that is attempting to undermine our Crowns. They’ve pushed wage roll-backs for Crown workers and big raises for Crown executives, all while raiding Crown dividends to make up for their own misspending.
