TILMA

Brad Wall doesn’t get that Saskatchewan is not Alberta, and that our interests, values and outlooks are not always the same. He is so eager to jump in line with Alberta that he advocated blindly joining TILMA, a trade agreement between Alberta and BC. But significant public pressure has forced him to hide his true agenda.

Brad Wall is ashamed of our province and wants to make us more like Alberta.

"Saskatchewan Party Calls on NDP to Join in Western Trade Pact"
- Headline of Saskatchewan Party News Release: May 1, 2006

"TILMA will effectively erase the border between BC and Alberta when it comes into effect."
- Macleans Magazine: August 2, 2006

"The province of Saskatchewan should be there as a part of this accord, not Johnny-come-lately ... "
- Sask Party Leader Brad Wall: Saskatchewan Hansard, May 18, 2006

"The TILMA is a major first step in the economic integration of BC and Alberta."
- The Fraser Institute Fraser Forum Newsletter: July/August 2006.

"If we want to be competitive, Saskatchewan needs to have a place in this trade pact."
- Sask Party Leader Brad Wall: Saskatchewan Party News Release, May 1, 2006

"The B.C.-Alberta pact moves the west into a position of economic integration."
- Jake McEwan (former senior adviser to the BC Government): Toronto Star, April 10, 2007

"There’s no way that they [The NDP] will sign on to the TILMA agreement before the next election. It’s going to take a new government with some vision and with some hope and some optimism about Saskatchewan to do bold things like sign on to the TILMA agreement and get this province rolling."
- Sask Party MLA (and Former Leader) Elwin Hermanson: Saskatchewan Hansard, March 26, 2007

"The time may therefore be ripe to consider the inclusion of Saskatchewan in “Alumbia” — increasing the population in the free trade zone and (one hopes) future mega-province."
- Western Standard Magazine: June 18, 2007

"What’s the difference between his [Lorne Calvert’s] party’s economic vision and our party’s economic vision? … We believe we should be at this table. We believe we should be negotiating these kinds of inter-provincial agreements [TILMA]."
- Sask Party Leader Brad Wall: Saskatchewan Hansard, May 18th 2006
