The following is a list of some of the petitions that have been presented in the Legislative Assembly by NDP MLAs:


Preventing Criminals from Profiting from their Crimes

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to enact legislation prohibiting any and all convicted criminals from receiving payment or remuneration for the recounting of their crime, or for any memorabilia connected with the crime. And that the government enact this legislation in time to prevent Colin Thatcher from profiting from his murder of JoAnn Wilson.

Expansion of the Graduate Retention Program

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to immediately expand the Graduate Retention Program to include Masters and Ph.D  graduates.

Minimum Wage

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honorable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to commit to indexing Saskatchewan minimum wage to ensure that the standard of living of minimum wage earners is maintained in the face of cost of living increases.

Child Care Spaces

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to immediately add 1000 new child care spaces in Saskatchewan.

Property Tax Relief

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray  that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be  pleased  to  cause  the  government  to  stop  withholding  and  to  provide  significant, sustainable, long-term property tax relief to property owners by 2009, through significantly increasing the provincial portion of education funding.
 

School Closures

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to develop, announce and implement a plan to address school closures.

Senior's Drug Plan 

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to reverse its decision to means test seniors and ensure that all seniors continue to have access to affordable prescription drugs. 

Student Housing

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to commit to aggressively working with partners to expand on-campus and off-campus housing options for Saskatchewan’s students. 

Tuition Costs

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to commit to addressing the burden placed by high post-secondary tuition fees on Saskatchewan students. 

Saskatoon Station 20 Funding

W
herefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to immediately restore funding to the Station 20 project. 

Early Childhood Development

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government, through consultation with the childcare community, to immediately invest in growing the capacity of the early childcare community to enable new childcare spaces, this investment must include: infrastructure funding for new facilities and expansion; funding to significantly increase the number of early childhood diploma and certificate training seats; and, funding to ensure that the sector is able to increase its’ wages and benefits to attract and retain needed personnel.

Public Safety and Security

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government, in the interest of the safety and security of Saskatchewan families, residents and communities, to immediately cause the Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing to undertake a thorough consultation with a broad group of stakeholders, including, the policing community, the corrections community, and community agencies, organizations and educators that interface with gangs and understand the risks and challenges that gangs offer our communities.

Prince Albert Pulp Mill

Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable Legislative Assembly may be pleased to cause the government to commit to reopening negotiations with Domtar based on the already negotiated Memorandum of Understanding so as to see a viable pulp and paper mill continue in Prince Albert.
