Opposition calls on Sask. Party government to work with community organizations to develop independent oversight measures

REGINA — Four months after initial calls from current and former frontline advocates, the Minister of Social Services has finally agreed to conduct an independent review of Raising Hope, a government-funded program providing housing and supports to women battling addiction. The decision comes months after Meara Conway, Opposition Critic for Social Services and Housing, wrote to the minister demanding this very action. 

Statement by Official Opposition Finance Critic Trent Wotherspoon on the Sask. Party government‘s decision to introduce the budget on the anniversary of the devastating Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy

The statement reads as follows:

"Last month, avoiding accountability, the Sask. Party government announced that they would be delaying the start of session and the introduction of their budget to April 6th. This April 6th will mark the three-year anniversary of the devastating Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy. 

Young: Cap delivery fees to save restaurants

REGINA - Today Aleana Young, Official Opposition Critic for Jobs and the Economy, called on the provincial government to cap the delivery fees charged by third-party delivery platforms at 15 per cent, down from the 25 to 30 per cent many apps are currently charging. The move would help restaurant owners save money and compensate for reductions in dine-in service as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
