Deb Higgins was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly in 1999 representing Moose Jaw Wakamow. Premier Calvert appointed Deb as Minister of Labour on October 12, 2001, and added Minister Responsible for the Status of Women to her portfolio on March 26, 2002.
In 2006 Deb was named Minister of Learning, Minister Responsible for Literacy, Minister Responsible for the Liquor and Gaming Authority and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Telecommunications.
Deb was most recently re-elected in 2007 and currently serves as the opposition critic for Women’s Issues, Municipal Affairs, Liquor and Gaming and the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation.
Deb and her husband Don are life-long residents of the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.
