Property Taxes on the Rise
In their first budget they provided municipalities with such a small increase in funding that many were being forced to contemplate 8, 9 even 10 per cent increases in property tax.
After pressure from municipalities and the NDP, the government finally gave in and shared the some of their billion dollar surplus with municipalities. Tax hikes were minimized but most municipalities were still forced to raise rates.
With billions of extra dollars just sitting in the bank, why is it that the NDP and Saskatchewan municipalities have to beg the government to do the right thing? Isn’t it their job to make sure life stays affordable for Saskatchewan people?
Health regions have announced that prenatal classes, breastfeeding support, and immunizations of school children will be suspended to give H1N1 vaccinations instead.

Seniors have been hit hardest...
